The Model Agency

I am a sucker for any sort of fashion-themed TV and Films.  Seriously I would watch, the good, the bad and everything in between if it had the promise of being about fashion.
Like everyone else i love all the fictionalised drama of Movies like The devil Wears Prada and and the early days of The Hills with all the Teen Vogue (unplanned?!?!) fashion moments.
But for me nothing beats real reality TV and documentaries when it comes to the fashion world.  I think that it's and industry that, not always of course but often can take its self so series that what happens behind the scenes can actually be more jaw-dropping and shocking than any script writer could come up with.
So it lends itself so well to those formats.
It's also getting that real glimpse of a world that for so long was kept hidden.  A vision of glamour and endless partying was what most outsiders thought a career in fashion involved.  Instead through countless shows and in depth movies people got see what really goes on behind one of the most talked about industries.  Hard work, un-glamorous hours, not always great pay and a sometimes very critical and brutal environment to work in although also seen was the beautiful clothes, endless opportunities and fabulous perks which kind of way up the balance, right?

Films like Lagerfeld confidential (was of my favourite documentaries EVER) and The September issue gave a view of modern day fashion legends as they worked.  And tv shows like America's Next top model (and Britain...and Australia's...and Germany's...and..) also showed a different aspect of what it's like to try and get into the industry whereas shows like Running In Heels showed what it's like trying to stay at the top of it.

So as you can imagine i was so excited when last week I started to hear about a new TV show on Channel 4 (in the UK) called The Model Agency.  The 7-part show goes behind the scenes in one of the most notorious parts of the fashion world- Modelling.
The documentary series See's unprecedented access to the world-famous Premier Model Management who are leaders in their field. They have nurtured some of the world's greatest models including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista.

I couldn't believe when i heard it was Premier taking part.  For such an established company to be allowing access all areas to film this documentary is amazing.
I love the whole feel of the show from the clips I have seen.  It feels real, which to me is the most important thing when we are so used to being feed a scripted reality from MTV.

I really hope this is an opportunity to see the real side of the modelling world that is so often shielded from the public view.  I want to see if all the rumors and illusions are true or if they are just simply that, just rumors.

Channel 4 has been on a roll with their real-life documentaries lately, what with the whole 'Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' show (seriously, don't even get me started on that one....!) So hopefully this one will be just as um...interesting and eye-opening as that.

Here is a clip for you all to check out of the show and click HERE for more info on it and some exclusive clips too.  The show is on Channel 4 this Wednesday at 10 O'clock.  And for any non-Uk'ers out there wanting to check it out, I think you should be able to view it on 4OD.

Let me know what you think?
Are you a fan of 'Fashion-Type' shows and are you looking forward to this one?
